Sound familiar?

These problems cost you customers every day. Here's how we fix them.

People can't find you on Google

Your competitors show up first. You're buried on page 2 or worse. Potential customers never even know you exist.

Competitors are stealing your customers

Every day, people search for exactly what you offer. Right now, they're clicking on your competitors instead.

Google Ads are eating your budget

Paying per click adds up fast. SEO brings you free traffic from the same searches, month after month.

You get visitors but no enquiries

Traffic means nothing if it doesn't turn into leads. You need the right visitors, not just more visitors.

Get your business to the top of Google

When someone searches for what you sell, the top result gets roughly 30% of all clicks. If you are on page two, you are virtually invisible. We move you up the rankings so you capture the traffic your competitors are getting right now.

Our SEO strategies are built on real data and tested frameworks. We target the keywords that bring buyers, not just browsers, and optimise every element of your site until Google has no choice but to rank you.

  • Page 1 rankings
  • Buyer-intent keywords
  • Organic traffic growth
  • Measurable ROI

What your first month covers

These are the jobs on the month-one list. Anything stopping Google crawling or indexing your site is fixed first. Where a step needs something from your side, it ends with "From you".

  1. 01

    Tracking and a starting point

Your target keywords are tracked from day one, and enquiries from organic search are recorded as key events in Google Analytics 4. We note a month-0 baseline of organic traffic, rankings, organic leads and top pages, each with its source and date range. You own your Search Console property and we are added as a user. From you: access to Analytics, Search Console and your website.

  2. 02

    Technical audit

Crawling and indexing, Core Web Vitals on mobile, mobile usability and HTTPS, on-page elements across the site, structured data, and duplicate content. The checks and their pass marks are in the next section.

  3. 03

    Strategy

Your competitors' content and where their links come from, a map of which keyword each page targets, and a review of your existing backlinks. We disavow links only if that review finds genuinely toxic ones.

  4. 04

    Local groundwork, for local businesses

Your Google Business Profile optimised, a review request process set up, your name, address and phone made consistent everywhere, New Zealand directories claimed by hand rather than through mass submission services, and location pages planned for the areas you genuinely serve. From you: manager access to your Google Business Profile, and the review link sent to customers after each job.

  5. 05

    Content plan

A content calendar you approve, written briefs for the first pieces, and a refresh schedule set for each type of page. From you: approval of the calendar.

  6. 06

    Your month-one review

Your monthly report is set up, and we take you through the audit findings, the keyword map and the priorities for the next 90 days, in writing or on a call if you'd like one.

What the technical audit checks

The audit runs in your first month and again every quarter. Each check is measured against a written pass mark, and anything that fails goes on a prioritised fix list.

  1. Crawling and indexing

    What we check
robots.txt, your XML sitemap, index coverage, server errors, canonical tags, redirects and orphan pages
    Passes when
Every service page can be crawled, redirects resolve in one hop, and every page you want found has at least one internal link
  2. Core Web Vitals on mobile

    What we check
Loading, responsiveness and layout stability on your key landing pages, plus server response time
    Passes when
Google's 'good' thresholds: LCP 2.5 seconds or less, INP 200 milliseconds or less, CLS 0.1 or less. Server response under 800 milliseconds
  3. Mobile and HTTPS

    What we check
Viewport, tap targets, pop-ups covering content, the SSL certificate, HTTP to HTTPS redirects and mixed content
    Passes when
Pages read and work on a phone without zooming, and every page loads over HTTPS
  4. On-page

    What we check
Titles, meta descriptions, headings, image alt text, heavy images, internal links and broken links
    Passes when
A unique title under 60 characters on every page, exactly one H1, and no broken internal links
  5. Structured data

    What we check
Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, Article and breadcrumb markup
    Passes when
No errors in Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator, so search engines read your business details correctly
  6. Duplicates and URL variants

    What we check
Duplicate titles and descriptions, near-duplicate pages, www and non-www, trailing slashes and parameter URLs
    Passes when
One version of each page, with the others redirected or canonicalised

What happens every month, and every quarter

After month one, the retainer runs on a set list of jobs. Each month adds and improves pages and links. Each quarter checks the foundations again and resets the plan.

Every month

  • New content

Written from the calendar you approved, each piece briefed first.

  • Refreshes

Existing pages picked from your data and brought up to date.

  • Quality links

Guest posts on relevant sites, the New Zealand directories that matter, and gaps in competitors' links.

  • Technical monitoring

Search Console checked for crawl errors, manual actions, index coverage, Core Web Vitals, new 404s and the speed of key landing pages.

  • Google Business Profile, for local businesses

Regular posts and new photos, every review answered promptly, and prompts for new reviews.

  • Your monthly report

What happened, what we did, and next month's priorities.

Every quarter

  • Technical re-audit

A full crawl, Core Web Vitals, schema, redirects, your sitemap and robots.txt checked again.

  • Keywords and competitors

The keyword-to-page map revisited, and competitors' new content, links and rankings reviewed.

  • Content audit

Pages that underperform are pruned, merged or updated, and the backlink profile reviewed.

  • Strategy review with you

Priorities for the next quarter agreed together.

How we work

The rules behind the monthly work.

  • Quantities set in your plan

How many pieces, refreshes and links you get each month is agreed in your plan up front, not counted up afterwards to fill a report.

  • Links we will not build

Forum spam, blog comments for links, social bookmarking, article submission sites and classified submissions. They are on our do-not list for every client.

  • No quick fixes after a core update

Google says there is no fix to apply after a core update, and improvements may not show until a later core update. We tell you that rather than promise a fast recovery.

  • No ranking guarantees

Nobody outside Google controls its rankings. We commit to the work, and the report shows what we did and what moved.

How we prove it: tracking and your monthly report

Rankings on their own do not pay the bills. So in month one we make sure an enquiry from Google search is recorded, and every report shows leads beside the traffic and rankings.

  1. 01

    Someone searches

They search Google for what you sell.

  2. 02

    They land on your page

Search Console records the click, page by page.

  3. 03

    They enquire

They send a form, tap your phone number or buy.

  4. 04

    Key event recorded

Organic form submissions, taps on your phone number and online sales are recorded as key events in Google Analytics 4.

  5. 05

    Your monthly report

Leads, traffic and rankings, measured against the month-0 baseline we recorded at the start.

What every report covers

Each figure is labelled with its source and date range.

  • Organic traffic

Organic sessions from Google Analytics, and clicks and impressions from Search Console, against last month and last year.

  • Organic enquiries and the pages behind them

Form submissions, taps on your phone number and online sales from organic search, and the pages gaining and losing traffic.

  • Your keywords

15 or more target keywords with their movement since we started, and how many sit in the top 3, 10, 20 and 100.

  • Content and links

What we published and refreshed, and the links earned, counted as referring domains rather than Domain Authority.

  • Google Business Profile, for local businesses

Profile views, calls, direction requests and review count.

  • Next month's priorities

What we will do next, and why.

How we choose what to write, and what to rewrite

New content comes from a calendar you approve, built from the keywords your competitors rank for and you do not, searches where you already rank in positions 5 to 20, the questions people ask in Google, and your busy seasons.

Every piece starts from a written brief: a primary keyword and three to five related terms, the search intent, sections drawn from what currently ranks, what competing pages miss, and the call to action. It answers the question early, then links to three to five related pages on your site.

Existing pages are picked for a refresh from your own data, using four triggers.

How we pick pages to refresh

  1. 01

    Close to the top

Pages sitting in positions 5 to 20 in Search Console.

  2. 02

    Losing ground

Pages whose traffic has dropped 20% or more over three months.

  3. 03

    Seen but not clicked

Pages with 1,000 or more impressions and under 3% click-through, where the title and description need work.

  4. 04

    Left alone too long

Pages nobody has updated in 12 months.

The brief, on a real page

This is the page behind the search result near the top of this page. It does what our briefs ask for: it says what the searcher typed, answers the question early and makes the next step obvious.

Discount Taxis' homepage, with the headline Auckland Airport taxi from $59, a short paragraph on fixed fares, a fare quote form beside it, and the menu, phone number and Book now button in the header
A live homepage from our SEO work for an airport transfer company.
  1. The headline opens with Auckland Airport taxi, the words people type, so the page and the search match.

  2. The price, door-to-door pickup and no surge pricing are all in the first paragraph, before anyone scrolls.

  3. The fare quote sits beside the headline rather than behind a contact form, because a fare is what the searcher came for.

  4. The menu leads to the fare and route pages, which pick up searches of their own.

  5. Book now and the phone number are in view without scrolling.

Show up in local searches

If your customers find you on Google Maps, or search for a service near them, the local groundwork matters as much as the website.

This is the short version. Our local SEO page goes through it step by step.

See how our local SEO works
  • Your Google Business Profile, set up properly

The most specific primary category, a full description, your services, hours and photos, then kept active with posts and new photos.

  • Genuine reviews, asked for every time

A direct review link, a request after each job, and every review answered promptly, including the negative ones.

  • Name, address and phone, matched everywhere

Character for character across your site, your profile, Apple Maps, Bing and New Zealand directories, down to Road versus Rd.

  • Location pages, planned area by area

Location pages planned for the areas you genuinely serve, each written for its area.

Get found in AI search results

People now ask Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity as well as scrolling the usual results. Those answers are built from pages on the web, and they often name the businesses behind them.

We write and structure your pages so they answer questions clearly, and add schema markup so your business details are read correctly. It builds on the same work that gets you ranking on Google rather than replacing it.

AI-Ready SEO includes

  1. Google AI Overviews

Pages written so Google can use them in the AI-generated answers above the results.

  2. ChatGPT and Copilot

Content structured so AI assistants can understand it and cite your business.

  3. Structured data

Schema markup so your business details are read correctly.

  4. Seen without a click

Your name and details shown correctly even when people get their answer on the results page.

Questions to ask before you hire an SEO agency

Straight answers to what you should know before choosing an SEO partner.

  • How do I choose an SEO company? (Read the guide)

Choose the one that shows you a clear process, real results and honest expectations without promising rankings. Ask how they'll audit your site, which keywords they'll target and why, and what their reports will show you. Be wary of anyone promising page one or selling cheap links, because spam links can get your site penalised.

  • Why do SEO quotes vary so much between agencies? (Read the pricing guide)

SEO quotes vary because the work behind them varies. Price depends on how hard your keywords are to rank for, how strong your competitors are, and the scope of work your site needs. A cheap quote often skips technical fixes and original content, and leans on spam links that can trigger penalties.

  • What should an SEO audit cover? (Try the free audit tool)

A proper SEO audit looks at your site, your competitors and your keywords to find exactly what's holding you back. It should catch the speed issues, indexing problems and mobile errors that stop Google showing your site, then lead to a clear plan targeting keywords that bring in paying customers.

  • Can I do SEO myself, or do I need an agency? (Read the beginner's guide)

You can do the basics yourself, and an agency makes sense when the technical and ongoing work outgrows your time. Keeping your Google Business Profile accurate and writing pages that answer what your buyers search for are good places to start. A technical audit, keyword research, link building and plain-English reporting take specialist tools and steady effort.

  • Does my business actually need SEO? (Read the guide)

If your customers search Google for what you sell, yes. When your site shows up, they click. When it doesn't, your competitor gets the call. SEO helps Google understand what you do and show you for the searches that bring buyers, not just browsers, including local searches on Google Maps.

  • Does SEO still matter now Google shows AI answers? (See AI search optimisation)

Yes, and its reach now goes beyond the usual search results. People get answers from Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity, not just a list of links. We structure your content and add schema markup so AI assistants can understand it and cite your business, alongside the work that gets you ranking on Google.

We had previously used another digital company for our website and digital marketing… things went downhill quickly, and our business suffered badly.

Within 30 minutes, we were on a Teams meeting discussing the problems we were facing. By 2am, Jason had sent us a detailed report… By 4pm, our Google Ads were back up and running.

Everything was turned around in less than 24 hours… seeing results that quickly was honestly incredible.

Jason and the team at Lucid Media have helped get our business back on solid ground… Young, full of energy, passionate, and genuinely driven to help businesses succeed.

Tyler Newman Tillen Finance

From the start, Jason has taken the time to understand my business properly rather than just pushing a generic marketing setup. We’ve built out a new website, landing pages, CRM integration, Google Ads and Meta campaigns, and the attention to detail across everything has been excellent.

What stands out most is his responsiveness and willingness to adapt quickly. Any time we’ve needed changes or seen something in the data, he’s on it straight away and is always looking for ways to improve performance rather than just letting campaigns run.

The key difference is that he genuinely feels invested in the success of the business, not just running ads in the background.

When the finance company I manage, Fee Funders, changed ownership, Lucid Media took over all aspects of our IT and technology, and the impact has been outstanding. Jason quickly learned our legacy systems, implemented critical changes during the transition, and then led the development of our new software platform and reporting systems.
