The Challenge

Salted Studio is a whānau-owned hair salon on Derby Street in Gisborne, retailing Keune professional haircare alongside their in-salon services. Guided by whakapapa and a connection to Tūranganui-a-Kiwa, the team describes their style as quietly premium and genuinely caring. Clients booking cuts, colour and treatments and customers buying Keune products between appointments wanted two distinct experiences from one brand. The goal was a faster storefront that let the salon brand and the product range reinforce each other, especially on mobile where most repeat customers shop.

Our Solution

Built a Next.
js App Router frontend on Vercel that stays headlessly connected to a Cloudways-hosted WooCommerce admin, so the team keeps the WordPress workflows they know.
Wrote a full TypeScript WooCommerce REST API client to power product pages and the catalogue.
Integrated Stripe Elements checkout with server-side PaymentIntent creation and a webhook handler for payment success and failure.
Added cart and upsell logic with localStorage persistence, plus ISR-cached product pages for fast loading.
Aligned the salon brand and the e-commerce experience so each supports the other.
