The Challenge
Ray White sales agents at a busy Auckland franchise were running commission numbers in front of vendors using Excel on their phones, paper calculators, and mental maths.
The agency's commission structure involves tiered splits, GST, franchise fees, marketing deductions, and referrer payments that shift depending on sale price bands and agent level, and a single miscalculation during a listing pitch could cost the office a vendor or trigger a payroll dispute weeks later. Agents needed accurate numbers in seconds while standing in a client's lounge, not ten minutes of fumbling through a spreadsheet.
The existing process was slow, error-prone, and looked unprofessional at exactly the moment trust needed to be earned.
Our Solution
We designed and built a native-quality React Native mobile app for iOS and Android that encodes the full Ray White commission logic into a clean, guided interface.
Agents punch in the sale price, agent tier, and any special deductions, and the app instantly returns a full breakdown including gross commission, GST, franchise fee, marketing, net to agent, and split variations. We architected a rules engine that handles tiered band calculations and edge cases, built a shareable PDF export so agents can email vendors a branded breakdown on the spot, and included a secure admin panel for the office to update commission rules without a new app release.
The app now runs across 200+ agents with zero reported calculation errors since launch.
