The Challenge
PayDay is a New Zealand fintech startup building an app that automatically splits each paycheque across bills, savings, and spending accounts the moment it lands, so Kiwis do not have to budget manually.
As a pre-launch financial product aimed at everyday consumers, they faced two hard problems, first, earning enough trust for a stranger to let the app read their bank transactions, and second, explaining a fairly novel 'auto-split your pay' concept in plain language before anyone had heard of the brand. They needed a marketing site that could convert cold traffic into signups, plus a real, production-grade SaaS application behind it capable of integrating with NZ bank feeds and moving money between accounts reliably.
Our Solution
We delivered a conversion-focused Astro marketing website with clear product explainer sections, animated split demos, bank-grade security messaging, FCA-equivalent trust signals, and a frictionless waitlist-to-signup funnel that drove 1000+ user acquisitions.
In parallel, we are building the full SaaS application with a Node. js and PostgreSQL backend, Akahu open-banking integration for NZ bank connectivity, automated pay-detection logic that identifies salary deposits by pattern, customisable split-rule engines per user, and secure transfer orchestration across multiple accounts.
The app includes webhook-based real-time transaction sync, encrypted credential storage, and a mobile-first React frontend. The launch site currently holds a 4.
9 user rating with the full SaaS rolling out in stages.
