01 Before we got involved

The Challenge

A high-volume NZ furniture retailer was dispatching hundreds of large-item deliveries a week through a third-party logistics platform, but their customers had no way to see where their order was on delivery day.

The support inbox was flooded with 'where is my delivery' emails, drivers were being called directly by anxious customers, and the customer service team was spending hours each day manually looking up job statuses in the logistics dashboard and copy-pasting ETAs into replies. The underlying GSM Tasks platform had all the live GPS data available via API, but none of it was exposed to the end customer in a usable way.

02 What we did about it

Our Solution

We built a public-facing live tracking web app that customers open from a unique link in their dispatch email, no login required.

The frontend polls the GSM Tasks REST API via a secure Node. js backend proxy, pulling live driver GPS coordinates, job status, and dynamic ETAs, then renders them on a Mapbox map with the customer's delivery pin and the driver's moving marker.

We added SMS notifications triggered by webhook when a driver is 30 minutes out, a delivery window countdown, and a post-delivery feedback capture flow. Support tickets about delivery status dropped by 60 percent and the customer service team reclaimed 75 percent of the time previously spent on status lookups.
