Fortune For Good: giving, grants and sponsorship on one platform

Fortune For Good is a New Zealand charitable trust, registered with Charities Services, set up to fund hardship relief and community projects across Aotearoa. As a new trust, it wanted to earn the confidence of donors, business partners and people seeking support from launch day, and it had committed to showing publicly where its money goes.

That called for one platform serving three audiences: donors giving once or regularly, businesses joining as partners, and individuals, whānau and community groups applying for help. The founding team also needed one place to review applications, record distributions and look after supporters.

We designed and built the platform from the ground up on Next. js and Tailwind, with a bold editorial look in navy, gold and ivory drawn from the trust's logo and te reo Māori woven through the section headings.

Donors can give once, monthly or annually through secure online checkout, receive a receipt for every gift, and manage their giving from their own account, with monthly supporters unlocking a members-only community board. A five-step grant application takes supporting documents and optional story-sharing consent, and applicants can follow their application's status from their account.

Trustees run the whole operation from one admin panel covering donations, grant review and funding rounds, sponsors, people, messages and distributions. Every distribution recorded there feeds the live impact figures on the home and impact pages, so the public total moves as support reaches the community.
