Fire and Ice: an Akaroa gemstone shop that ships worldwide

Fire and Ice is a family business in Akaroa, trading since 1995, selling natural gemstone and pearl jewellery, New Zealand blue pearls, and pure essential oils blended on-site by a qualified aromatherapist. The goal was an online store with the same colour and character as the Church Street shop, where customers browse the way they actually buy: by stone, by pearl collection or by oil.

It had to take orders from New Zealand, Australia and further afield, with delivery priced correctly for each. The move also had to keep the previous site's pages working, so existing search traffic landed on the new store from launch day.

We designed and built a new storefront on Next. js and Tailwind, with a plum and gold palette taken directly from the Fire and Ice logo.

We organised the catalogue around how people shop for stones: an A to Z gemstone directory, pearl collections including New Zealand blue pearls, and an aromatherapy department split into essential oils, blends and massage oils. We built the full buying journey, with cart, checkout, customer accounts, discount codes and delivery priced for New Zealand, rural addresses, Australia and worldwide.

The team keeps managing products, stock and orders in the store admin they already know, and the home page features update from it automatically. Before launch we redirected the previous site's product and category URLs, replaced placeholder testimonials with real Google reviews, and set up ecommerce and ad conversion tracking so online sales can be measured by channel.
