Cheeky Chapati: a restaurant site built for bookings and takeaway

Cheeky Chapati is an Indian restaurant and takeaway on the Hibiscus Coast Highway in Orewa, pairing traditional recipes from across the Indian subcontinent with modern tastes in a Bollywood-inspired dining room. Most restaurant visitors want one of three things: the menu, a table or a takeaway order, and they usually want it on a phone.

The goal was a site that gets people from browsing to booked or ordered in as few steps as possible. It also needed to reach diners searching for Indian food across the Hibiscus Coast and North Shore, not just in Orewa.

We designed and built a new site on Astro and Tailwind, with a warm teal and orange palette, full-width food photography, smooth scrolling and parallax sections. We rebuilt the full food and drinks menu as tabbed, priced sections on the page, and redirected the old menu PDF links to it so existing links kept working.

We embedded table booking directly on the page, sent every Order Online button straight to the restaurant's takeaway ordering, and kept the phone number one tap away. We added local pages for suburbs from Warkworth to Devonport, with drive times, local FAQs and a map, backed by Restaurant, FAQ and breadcrumb structured data.

We set up tracking on booking and order clicks, and added share previews for social and messaging apps.
