The Challenge
Tradevine is a New Zealand warehousing and order management platform used by e-commerce retailers to track inventory, pick and pack orders, and dispatch shipments across multiple sales channels.
Their customers were pushing dispatched orders into GSM Tasks for last-mile delivery routing, but the handoff between the two systems was entirely manual, with warehouse staff rekeying order numbers, addresses, contact details, and delivery instructions from one dashboard into the other. Every rekeyed order was an opportunity for a typo, a missing apartment number, or a delayed dispatch, and the volume had grown to the point where two staff were spending a full chunk of their day just moving data between screens.
Our Solution
We built a custom integration service in Node.
js that listens for new dispatch-ready orders in Tradevine via webhook, transforms the payload into the GSM Tasks schema, and creates the delivery job via the GSM Tasks REST API within seconds of the warehouse marking an order as ready to ship. The service handles retries with exponential backoff, logs every transaction for audit, deduplicates against existing jobs, and posts status updates back into Tradevine so warehouse staff can see delivery state without logging into GSM Tasks.
Address validation was added to catch bad data before it hit the courier, and error alerts route to Slack if an order fails to sync. The result is 100% order accuracy, real-time sync, and 25 hours reclaimed every week.
