A therapy tools platform with 18+ interactive tools for OpnUp

OpnUp is a digital therapy tools platform founded by New Zealand mental health clinicians who wanted to move interactive CBT and ACT exercises out of printed worksheets and emailed PDFs and into a live session. They needed a full SaaS platform therapists could use in-person or over telehealth to run evidence-based exercises with clients and assign follow-up work clients could complete on their own phone.

Because this involves sensitive mental health data, the platform had to meet the Privacy Act 2020 and NZ health information standards, including NZ-based data residency. It also had to let clients receive and complete shared work without creating an account, and produce clean clinical documentation therapists could save to client files.

Built the full OpnUp SaaS platform from the ground up on a React frontend, a Node. js API, and a PostgreSQL database.

Designed and shipped 18+ interactive therapy tools, including thought records, behavioural experiments, exposure hierarchies, values clarifications, and emotion trackers, each grounded in CBT and ACT frameworks. Implemented one-click secure client sharing so clients never need a login, plus PDF export for clinical notes with therapist branding.

Engineered end-to-end encryption of client responses, role-based access for multi-clinician practices, and full Privacy Act 2020 compliance with NZ-based data residency. Delivered the marketing website and onboarding flow to support therapists joining the platform.
