The Challenge
Ngamoe is a boutique accommodation in Ruatoria on the remote East Coast of New Zealand, sitting beneath Maunga Hikurangi with views few lodges in the country can match. Five hours from the nearest major city, it relies on travellers who plan East Coast itineraries weeks ahead through Google, so the website had to carry the full booking funnel.
The brief was to showcase the landscape, convey the cultural significance of the location, and take payments directly rather than through OTA commissions. The property also offers NZMCA-registered powered sites for campers and campervans alongside its private self-contained houses.
Our Solution
- Designed and built a WordPress site with WooCommerce Bookings so guests can check availability, select dates, and pay directly without third-party fees.
- Led the layout with large-format photography of the property and Hikurangi to sell the setting.
- Tuned the build mobile-first for travellers researching on phones along the road.
- Set up Google Analytics 4 to track booking funnel behaviour and transactional email for confirmations.
- Launched the site as the sole direct booking channel, taking reservations from day one.
