The Challenge
Ngamoe is a new boutique accommodation in Ruatoria on the remote East Coast of New Zealand, sitting beneath Maunga Hikurangi with views most lodges in the country cannot match.
Being five hours from the nearest major city, they had zero walk-in traffic and no existing brand recognition, which meant the website had to carry the entire booking funnel. Without an online presence, they were invisible to the road-trippers, surfers, and cultural tourists who plan East Coast itineraries weeks in advance through Google and Booking.
com. They needed a site that could showcase the landscape, communicate the cultural significance of the location, and take payments directly without relying on OTA commissions.
Our Solution
We designed and built a WordPress site with WooCommerce Bookings so guests can check availability, select dates, and pay the $325 per night rate directly, cutting out third-party booking fees.
The design leads with large-format photography of the property and Hikurangi, backed by a mobile-responsive layout tuned for travellers researching on phones at roadside cafes. We integrated Google Analytics 4 to track booking funnel behaviour, set up transactional email for confirmations, and structured content around the experience: the whare, the land, the stargazing, and the sunrise.
The site went live as their sole booking channel and started taking direct reservations immediately.
